Background
Child Development Society in partnership with World Vision International Nepal is implementing -  Building Resilience with Children in Kathmandu’s Brick Kilns (BRiCKK) project with a goal Children and Families in Brick Kilns are protected from exploitative and hazardous labour, have decent and viable livelihoods. This project has a multi-sectoral approach encompassing the Protection, Livelihood and Education components integrated together to strengthen the legal system and services for the protection of children in brick kilns, provide families working in brick kilns with increased skills for alternative livelihood options, and improve occupational health and safety standards within the kilns. The interventions designed through this project will create an impact at all levels of the city – individual and household level through awareness and building resilience of families and children, community and municipal level through strengthening of community based protection systems and linking with services, and government and institutional level through policy advocacy, strengthening monitoring mechanism with government and corporate sector for forming policies that protect children from harm within their workplace.

Job Description
Field officer will be based in project area i.e. near to brick industries. Field Officer will work with a certain number of wards/ brick industries, Child Rights Committees, labour office employer of brick industry, workers, children, local government representative, police and teacher to achieve project objective to protect children from exploitative and hazardous work in brick industry. With support from Project Manager, Field Officer will work with the above stakeholders to build their capacity on strengthening child protection system building confidence of children through life skills and creating protective environment at brick industry. Key duties include; working with employers to comply OSH guideline in brick industries pertinent to child protection as well as work safety, Building the capacity of local child protection committees, Building the capacity of children through life skills, vocational training to adolescents, Organize/facilitate Local child protection life skills group meeting; Produce monthly progress report. S/he will be also responsible to guide and mobilize workers in brick industry to do decent work, child rights committee members to ensure effective implementation and documentation of project interventions in assigned area.
Reports to:  Thematic officer and Project Manager

Major responsibilities
Capacity to dealing with employer to deliver project interventions in brick industry
Facilitate in the participation of
Support providing local information as required to the Project Manager and MEAL Officer to update database of project interventions
Support and coordinate to conduct baseline survey, midterm review, end line survey, monitoring visit in field level.
Facilitate to conduct project activities in brick industries in coordination with labour office, child protection committee, local government in support of Program Manager
Support municipal/Ward level Child Protection and Promotion Committee to organize meeting and be part of it.
Organize the local ward level meetings and events in coordination with the government, employer and community groups
Support to collect data of unaccompanied children in brick industries to reintegrate them to their family.
Regular visit to the brick industries to aware about the child protection system, occupational safety and health directives, endowment fund, and social protection scheme to workers and children in brick industries.
Prepare quality event report.
Competencies:
Academic Qualification and Experience
Intermediate in relevant discipline with at least 2 years experiences on child protection projects in similar capacity or having strong social mobilization skills

Sector Knowledge/competency
Knowledge on empowerment approaches and able to mobilize
Knowledge on child protection system, brick industry issues, occupational safety and health directives for brick industry worker and protection of children
Basic Knowledge on children’s risk associated with brick industries to support them to protect from exploitative and hazardous work, national master plan to eliminate child labour

Capacity building
Good Knowledge on following skills (Group Management, mobilization of stakeholders, discussions, interpersonal skills, Innovation)
Good Facilitation skills
Good Communication skills
Relationship Management

Position: Project Officer- NDRR

Position Description
The DRR PO will manage Nepal Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRR) Project in the Kathmandu district by ensuring compliance with WVIN’s sectoral and quality standards, project compliance and government’s policies. The role will be overall responsible for managing the project, technical support to subordinate staff and monitoring the performance of field social mobilizers, ensuring that social mobilizer have access to appropriate technical and functional support in terms of DRR project implementation, and managing relationships with sectoral key stakeholders including Rural Municipality members mainly Local Disaster Management Committee.
Reports to: Project Coordinator and Matrix reporting to DRR Specialist, WVIN

Major responsibilities
Overall responsible for management and implementation of Nepal Disaster Risk Reduction Project;
Ensure projects activities are delivered on scope, on time and on budget as per the agreements without compromising the quality;
Contribute to prepare detailed implementation plan and take a leadership for implementation of it;
Identify, assess, and communicate risks associated with the implementation of project, and development of mitigation measures;
With technical guidance from Project Coordinator and Field DRR Coordinator- ensure appropriate analysis and project results are met;
Maintain close coordination and linkages with the district and Rural Municipality DRR focal person and authorities to implement planned activities as per project outcome and impacts;
In coordination with Field DRR Coordinator, build relationships with government line agencies and facilitate to engage them since project kick off;
Provide timely feedback to the project staff on timely to implement project on its quality and standard.
Regularly coordinate and influence to Local Elected Representatives for DRR mainstreaming into development planning process;
Facilitate training, workshop and orientation at district and local level;
Ensure Planning, Monitoring and Reporting of the project and submitted on timely to Line Manager with high quality.

Academic Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Disaster Risk Reduction/Environment Science/Social Science or relevant discipline at least two years of experience of project implementation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Response.

Sector Knowledge:
Knowledge related on Government’s DRR policy, programme priorities, needs and issues in relation to the sector priorities;
Prior knowledge in DRR training development and facilitation to local representatives;
Good Knowledge on community based disaster risk management (CBDRM) approaches and Local Disaster Risk and Climate Resilience Plan (LDCRP);
In depth knowledge on Local Development Planning Process and Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (VCA)
Knowledge on facilitating and preparation of District  Disaster and Response Plan (DPRP) at local level and on district

Project Management:

Good understanding on operation issues like timely and quality delivery of activities, good planning and monitoring skills;
Good understanding and capacity on donor reporting system;
Good understanding on the Detail Implementation Plan and mentoring to the project staff;
Good knowledge on the DRR project management tool and approaches;
Sound knowledge & skills on project risk analysis and management;
Good Analytical Skills to analysis project related beneficiary data and incorporate in the report;
Good ability in report writing skills for developing the periodic report like monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual;
Prior knowledge in case study and event report preparation with high quality;
